A pilgrimage undertaken together is a different pilgrimage altogether: the bhajans on the train, the shared darshan, the meal eaten as one family. But every group organiser knows the worries that come with it — Will everyone stay close together? Will the food be right for a hundred sattvic devotees? Will the elders manage the distances?

For nearly four decades, Sri Purushottam Bhakta Nivas has been the Puri base for temple committees, bhajan mandalis, village sanghas and senior-citizen yatra groups from Odisha, Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar and beyond. Groups from 10 to well over 100 devotees stay with us, eat with us, and walk together to the Singhadwara — 120 metres from our gate.

How We Host Groups

• Seva Hall (Dormitory) — ₹300 per bed: separate halls for men and women with bunk beds and common bathrooms with 24x7 hot water. The heart of group yatra hospitality.
• Standard & AC rooms for elders and families: from ₹500 per night, including ground-floor allocations for senior devotees — the group stays together, in comfort graded to need.
• Family Suites for smaller travelling parties: interconnected rooms where sub-families within the sangha keep their own space.
• Group sattvic dining: fresh vegetarian thalis (no onion, no garlic) served in timed sittings around the darshan schedule; packed meals for excursion days to Konark or Chilika.
• Seva coordination: help arranging panda seva, sankalpa pooja and guided darshan for the whole group with advance notice.

Planning Your Group Yatra

The right season shapes the experience. Winter (October–February) is kindest for large groups and seniors; festival seasons — Rath Yatra, Kartik Purnima, Magha Mela — are the most auspicious and the most crowded, needing the earliest booking. Many committees also combine Puri with day trips to Konark and Chilika; our 3-day itinerary was written with exactly such groups in mind.
